Our Commitment to Sustainable Motorsport

Beverley and District Motor Club offset the carbon emissions for the 164-strong East Riding Stages Rally field, using Carbon Positive Motorsport's offsetting services for the fourth running of the event.

As well as delivering a professionally run and highly competitive event, Beverley & District Motor Club is dedicated to ensuring that its activities contribute positively to the wider community and environment.

This includes working closely with local authorities and stakeholders to minimise disruption, engaging with residents and businesses to foster strong local support, and implementing sustainable practices in event planning and logistics.

By taking these additional steps, the club not only puts on an outstanding rally, but also reinforces the idea that motorsport can coexist with responsible environmental stewardship, minimising the environmental impact of motorsport, and ensuring that rallying continues to thrive while taking meaningful action to combat climate change.

By offsetting their unavoidable carbon emissions with Carbon Positive Motorsport, the rally’s environmental contributions go beyond carbon neutrality by providing long-term benefits to biodiversity, habitat restoration, and climate resilience.

The rally, held on Sunday, 23rd February, featured an incredible line-up of drivers, including Probite British Rally Championship (BRC) and Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship contenders.

In it's fourth year, the event has cemented its status as one of the most exciting and competitive closed-road rallies in the UK. Thousands of spectators braved the February weather to witness some of the UK's best rally drivers in action in challenging and changing conditions.

The atmosphere in Beverley town centre was electric as the rally officially got underway in the Saturday Market FanZone. Families, rally fans, and local residents turned out in force to see the competing crews up close as they prepared to take on the fast and flowing roads of the East Riding.

"Beverley & District Motor Club is so proud to be able to bring the very top level of rallying to the East Riding of Yorkshire. Nowhere else in the UK have so many rally cars, ranging from the very best in the country to clubmen in much more modest cars, competed in an event which has been so popular with the community," commented Matthew Atkinson, Clerk of the Course. "The support we receive from all the local community is amazing, and of course everyone comments on the friendly welcome that is so typical of people in Yorkshire."

"It’s fantastic to see the East Riding Stages Rally grow year on year," added Steve Smith, founding Director of Carbon Positive Motorsport. "Every year this brilliantly organised event brings an increasing level of fan and driver engagement. We're delighted to support the event's commitment to sustainable motorsport with our Carbon Offsetting Services."

The East Riding Stages Rally offset their unavoidable emissions by 200%, with 40 tonnes of CO2 emissions offset immediately via Carbon Reduction Units (CRU's), and an additional 40 tonnes to be offset in the future using Pending Issuance Units (PIU's).

The PIU's come from UK-based rewilding projects delivered in collaboration with Highland Carbon. These projects are accredited under the Sequoia Carbon Code, ensuring they provide measurable benefits to biodiversity and climate resilience.

Creating a Positive Legacy of Environmental Benefits

Carbon Positive Motorsport provide practical and immediate carbon offsetting solutions which allow events, teams and competitors to make motorsport not only sustainable, but also a positive contributor to the environment.

The work of the East Riding Stages Rally shows how motorsport can maintain its appeal while addressing its environmental responsibilities, highlighting the potential for the sport to continue thriving in a way that supports a sustainable future.
